Neither mitragynine nor natural leaf kratom is federally scheduled as of this page’s date. Three related derivatives are: a DEA temporary order of August 26, 2026, placed mitragynine pseudoindoxyl, MGM-15 and MGM-16 into Schedule I for two years. 7-OH sits in between, covered by a live notice of intent that has neither lapsed nor produced a final order, which means it could be scheduled without warning.
A separate border mechanism, FDA Import Alert 54-15, allows imported Mitragyna speciosa supplements and bulk ingredients to be detained without examination. It is not a domestic sales prohibition and does not reach a domestically manufactured product.
Our Kratom collection carries the full federal status module with citations and its own review date.
State law moves independently of federal law, and the lists circulating online disagree because they measure different things. Some states prohibit kratom outright, some hold sales pending implementing rules, some restrict concentrated 7-OH while permitting leaf, and others regulate under Kratom Consumer Protection Act frameworks. Our Kratom collection carries the full state summary.
