The buzz around delta 10

When delta 8 came out as a legal cannabis product that could get you high, it caused quite the stir. Many people didn’t realize that there was more than one psychedelic compound within the cannabis plant. But it doesn’t stop there. As of now, there are three psychoactive compounds within the cannabis plant. The first is delta 9 THC, the second is delta 8, and the third is delta 10. 

The main thing that distinguishes delta 8 from delta 9 is its double-bonded carbon placement within the molecule. See, what makes THC so unique is the fact that it contains a chain of carbon atoms, and at one point along that chain, there is a double-bonded carbon. This trait is extremely rare and is not often found in nature. Most scientists believe this double-bonded carbon is responsible for THC’s potent psychoactive properties. The double bond occurs along the ninth rung in the latter of carbon atoms, and thus THC was given the official name: THC delta 9. Delta 8 is the same as typical THC in every way except that its double bond occurs along the 8th rung instead of the 9th. The implications of this lie within the effects of delta 8. They are incredibly similar to delta 9, just a bit less potent.

You probably already guessed it──delta 10 is the same as the other two, only its double-bonded carbon occurs on the 10th link in the chain. So just like with delta 8, delta 10 produces remarkably similar effects to those of delta 9, just to a less potent degree.  

What does delta 10 feel like? 

While a lesser potency may be the main difference in the effects produced between delta 9 and delta 10, there are some other, more subtle characteristics that are unique only to delta 10. 

The delta 10 high is exceedingly euphoric. It is more cerebral and more of a “head high” as opposed to a “body high.” An excellent way to understand the delta 10 high is to compare it with delta 8. The delta 8 high is very relaxing, while the delta 10 high is more energizing and uplifting. 

Delta 10 is especially great at improving focus and creativity. One helpful way to look at the difference between delta 8 and delta 10 is to consider delta 8 to be more of an indica and delta 10 more of a sativa.
