What is THC-P?

THC-P, or tetrahydrocannabiphorol, is a naturally occurring cannabinoid in the hemp plant. It exists only in trace levels. THC-P was discovered in 2019, and since then, it’s become a hugely sought-after hemp derivative thanks to its powerful and extremely desirable effects.

How High Will I Get from THC-P?

THC-P is the most intoxicating cannabinoid in the hemp plant. It’s about 10 times as intoxicating as delta 9 THC, which means that it’s incredibly potent. Because of that, it’s best for those with a high THC tolerance, who can handle an extremely strong high.

What Does the High of THC-P Feel Like?

THC-P’s high is described as euphoric and uplifting, and many people say that it helps eliminate their stress levels. People describe feeling happy and carefree, while experiencing a body high that ranges from warm and tingly, to full-on couchlock-inducing, depending on how their body reacts to the cannabinoid.

Are There Any Benefits Associated with THC-P?

THC-P has only been around for a few years, but thankfully, researchers have explored some of its potential benefits already. So far, it’s believed that THC-P works on the same cannabinoid receptors as delta 9, only more powerfully – 31 times as strongly, according to researchers. This means that it may provide the same benefits, such as those related to nausea, appetite, inflammation, mood, and sleep.

How is THC-P Made?

THC-P is naturally found in hemp, but in such trace levels that extracting it would be very time-consuming, labor-intensive, and costly. Instead, THC-P distillate is made by rearranging the molecules of CBD, a far more abundant cannabinoid in hemp, to convert the CBD into THC-P. This process, known as isomerization, is possible because all cannabinoids share the same molecular makeup, in different arrangements.

Is THC-P a Good Choice for Sleep?

We’ve heard many people say that THC-P helps alleviate racing thoughts that can take place at nighttime. Still, other people say that they feel almost energized by the cannabinoid. It seems that it affects each person differently, so we recommend trying a small amount in the evening to see how it affects you.

Is THC-P Legal?

Under federal law, THC-P is completely legal. That’s because the law requires that hemp products contain no more than 0.3% delta 9 THC, and does not acknowledge THC-P at all. Still, 19 states have banned intoxicating cannabinoids, including THC-P, so far:

  • Alaska
  • Arizona
  • Arkansas
  • Colorado
  • Delaware
  • Hawaii
  • Idaho
  • Iowa
  • Maryland
  • Mississippi
  • Montana
  • Nevada
  • New York
  • North Dakota
  • Oregon
  • Rhode Island
  • Utah
  • Vermont
  • Washington
  • If you live in one of the above states, you cannot purchase THC-P from Elyxr at this time.

Can You Overdose on THC-P?

THC-P is a cannabinoid, and cannabinoids are not considered toxic to the adult human body. That being said, no overdoses of THC-P have ever been reported. The cannabinoid is not associated with long-term harm in any way.

Are There Any Side Effects Associated with THC-P?

THC-P is a very potent cannabinoid, and can cause mild, temporary side effects that should not last for more than a few hours. You’re more likely to experience these side effects due to how strong THC-P is overall. They include:

  • Dry mouth (“cottonmouth”)
  • Dry eyes/bloodshot eyes
  • Reduced blood pressure
  • Anxiety/paranoia
  • Grogginess/drowsiness/fatigue
  • Confusion
  • Impaired motor skills
  • Increased appetite

Are the THC-P Products at Elyxr Safe?

All of the THC-P products at Elyxr have undergone extensive third-party testing, through a laboratory that’s licensed by the state to test samples of hemp. The lab reports show that our THC-P is free of impurities and contaminants, is authentic, compliant with the law, and potent enough to be effective. You can find our lab reports on our website.

Can I Drive After Taking THC-P?

Even though THC-P is legal, it is not legal to drive while intoxicated. Besides that, driving while impaired can be very dangerous to you and others. Please do not drive while you’re high on THC-P, or any other intoxicating cannabinoid.

Will THC-P Cause Me to Fail a Drug Test?

THC-P will put you at as much of a risk of failing a drug test as delta 9 THC. That’s because THC-P metabolizes in the same way, getting processed into an enzyme called THC-COOH, which is what triggers a positive test result. If you are being drug-tested, please abstain from THC-P.

Can I Get Too High from THC-P?

THC-P is a cannabinoid best left to advanced cannabis users with a high tolerance. Getting “too high” is a possibility, and while it’s not dangerous, you may feel anxious and uneasy due to the powerful nature of the psychoactive properties. If it’s your first time taking THC-P, please start slow with a low dose.
